The design of a corporate headquarters office is a delicate balance of form and function. It must serve practical purposes while also representing the unique cultural image of the company. In the case of Philips Lighting China HQ, BNJN Design has achieved this balance with a unique solution: a large screen wall with a semi-transparent illuminated glass installation.
This installation, which includes simple materials like glass, aluminum plate, and paint, is equipped with Philips' high technology that can sync lights with the ambience of outdoor nature. This not only enhances the visual appeal of the hall space but also cleverly conceals functional spaces. The illuminated wall is a testament to Philips Lighting's vision and is sure to captivate every visitor's attention.
Another notable feature of the design is the dotted luminous ceiling. The dots, which change in size in an artistic pattern, parallel the glass wall, providing a refreshing visual and emotional experience for visitors. The design, spanning an area of 9771 square meters, was realized using wood veneer, aluminum plate, and acoustical board.
The project, which started in March 2017 and was completed in January 2018, was located in Shanghai. The design process involved in-depth research and investigation, with the core vision of Philips Lighting - "Light Beyond Illumination" - well integrated into the interior design. The design faced challenges, particularly in expressing and strengthening the corporate culture and dealing with the original hall space's limitations. However, BNJN Design's innovative solutions and extensive expertise helped overcome these challenges.
The Philips Lighting China HQ design is a testament to the power of design to transform a space and embody a company's vision and culture. It is a shining example of how design can go beyond mere aesthetics to create a space that is functional, inspiring, and representative of a company's identity. The design's recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in 2019 is a well-deserved accolade for BNJN Design's exceptional creativity and innovation.
